August 29, 2024- Today we’re going to make a super cool craft inspired by Book 1, Kami Visits Connecticut, Georgia, and Idaho ! The Lollipop Swirl is the BIG HUGS move for Connecticut. So, I thought, what better way to celebrate a Thoughtful Thursday than to do a craft? Here are the instructions for Lollipop Swirl Craft: Paper Plate Lollipop (remember, You be YOU and decorate your lollipop any way you want!)
Here’s a delightful crafting adventure inspired by Kami and her friends from the BIG HUGS
for Kids book series. In this simple and fun activity, children will create their very own paper
plate lollipop, perfect for imaginative play and storytelling. Join us as we bring the lollipop swirl
exercise to life with this charming craft. Let’s dive in and unleash our creativity!
Materials Needed:

  • Paper plate
  • Marker, crayons, pencils, pens, or stickers
  • Straw or popsicle stick
  • Tape or glue

    Instructions:
  1. Prepare the Paper Plate:
  • With a pencil, poke a hole in the center circle of the paper plate, leaving only the outer rim.

2. Create the Swirl Design:

    • Use a marker or crayon to draw a spiral design on the paper plate.

    3. Attach to popsicle stick:

    • Place the straw or popsicle stick at the backside of the paper plate, near the bottom edge.
    • Use tape or glue to secure the straw or stick to the paper plate.

    4. Decorate the Lollipop and then Play and Enjoy!:

      • Use markers or crayons to decorate the paper plate lollipop. Add colorful designs, patterns,
        or even draw a face on it!
      • Hold the straw or popsicle stick and pretend to lick or eat the lollipop.
      • Use it as a prop while reading or acting out scenes from the BIG HUGS for Kids book series!
